Self employed contractor agreements

To maintain flexible business arrangements, you may hire self-employed contractors instead of employees. If a worker is responsible for their own tax, insurance and national insurance arrangements, and are free to work elsewhere they may be. However, in order to regulate this relationship a contractor agreement is crucial. A robust contractor agreement will outline responsibilities and the level of commitment to working required. Although workers do not have the right to be unfairly dismissed, they do have rights such as the national minimum wage, rights under the Working Time Regulations 1998 (SI 1998/1833) and the right not to suffer unlawful deductions from wages.
